Privacy Policy
Last updated 1 June 2026
getJudgd (“getJudgd”, “we”, “us”) is a kind-but-honest rating community operated by Bosman Tech. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We collect as little as we can, store it securely in the European Union, and never sell it.
Who we are
The data controller is Bosman Tech. You can reach us about any privacy matter at privacy@getjudgd.com.
What we collect
- Account details. When you sign up (with email, Apple, or Google) we receive an email address and a username. Sign-in is handled by Amazon Cognito; if you use Apple or Google we receive only what that provider returns (typically a name and email).
- Content you post. Photos you submit for rating, plus the captions, ratings, reactions, and constructive tags you and others add.
- Usage & device data. Basic analytics (screens viewed, features used, approximate region, device type and OS version) to understand and improve the app.
- Notifications. If you enable push, a device push token so we can send you the alerts you asked for.
- Purchases. If you subscribe, your purchase is processed by Apple or Google and managed through RevenueCat. We receive subscription status — never your full card details.
- Age & identity verification (only if you choose an 18+ feature). To unlock adult-only categories you take a selfie and a photo of a government ID. These images are sent to our processor only to (a) read the date of birth and (b) check the selfie matches the ID, and are deleted immediately afterwards. We keep only the result — that you passed (or didn’t) — never the ID or the images.
How we use it
- To run the rating community — show your posts, deliver feedback, and keep your account working.
- To keep getJudgd safe: detect abuse, enforce our rules, and respond to reports.
- To improve the product through aggregate, privacy-respecting analytics.
- To send the notifications and transactional emails you opt into.
- To process subscriptions and prevent fraud.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data. We share it only with the service providers that make the app run, each acting on our instructions:
- Amazon Web Services — hosting, database, and media storage, plus automated content moderation and age/identity verification via Amazon Rekognition (EU, eu-west-1).
- RevenueCat, Apple, Google — subscription billing and management.
- PostHog — product analytics.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging — push notification delivery.
We may also disclose data where required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
Where your data lives
Your account data and uploaded media are stored on AWS infrastructure in the EU (Ireland). Some providers above may process limited data outside the EU under appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, posts, and uploaded media, except where we must retain limited records for legal, security, or billing reasons.
Content moderation & safety
To keep getJudgd safe, every photo you submit is automatically screened before it’s posted — using Amazon Rekognition — for sexual or explicit content, graphic violence, and images that appear to involve a minor. Content that breaks our rules is blocked and not published. We keep a record of blocked attempts (a violation count and the category of the issue, not the image) so we can enforce our rules and restrict or remove accounts with repeated violations. Sexual content involving minors is reported to the relevant authorities.
Age & identity verification
Some categories are for adults only. If you choose to use them, we verify your age with a one-time check: you take a selfie and a photo of a government ID, which are processed solely to confirm you are 18+ and that the selfie matches the ID. Both images are deleted immediately after processing — we never store your ID or the photos. We retain only the verdict (verified or not) and the date. This processing is necessary to operate an age-restricted feature and, where required, relies on your explicit consent, which you give by starting the check.
How to delete your account
You can delete your getJudgd account, and the data associated with it, at any time. There are two ways:
- In the app (instant). Open getJudgd and go to Settings → Delete account, then confirm. Your account is deleted straight away.
- By email. If you can’t access the app, email privacy@getjudgd.com from your registered address and we will delete your account within 30 days.
When you delete your account we permanently remove your profile, username, email address, uploaded photos, posts, ratings, reactions, and comments. We retain a limited set of records only where the law requires it — for example basic billing and transaction records (kept for the statutory period, typically up to 7 years) and minimal safety/abuse logs — after which those are deleted too.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including the EU/EEA under the GDPR), you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data, object to certain processing, and export your data. You can delete your account at any time from within the app (Settings → Delete account), or email privacy@getjudgd.com and we will action your request.
Age
You must be at least 13 to use getJudgd (or 16 in the EU and other regions with a higher digital-consent age). Some features — the people/looks and dating-style categories — are limited to users 18 and over, applied via the age & identity verification described above. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 (or under the applicable minimum age); if you believe a child has given us their data, contact privacy@getjudgd.comand we will delete it. If you are a minor, please use getJudgd only with a parent’s or guardian’s consent.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, media is served through private, time-limited links, and access is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you of any breach affecting you as required by law.
Changes
We’ll update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be highlighted in the app or by email. The date at the top reflects the latest version.
